The next event was on Sunday May 26, when SGF members visited the Cedars Home for the Elderly and played Bingo with the elderly members of the community. It was an enjoyable and heartening experience as both young and old socialized on a beautiful spring day.
The SGF also hosted a Comedy Night, at the Comedy Zone, in September. The foundation was able to raise $3000 that was donated to the Cedars Home.
Alzheimer’s Awareness Sunday was on October 27th. A representative from the Alzheimer’s Montreal Chapter spoke after the church service at St. George Orthodox Church. Fresh bagels and danishes were served as pamphlets about the disease were distributed.
Our major event was the yearly Gala, our Fall Fever Party, held on November 8th. This was a tremendous success, more than 500 people in attendance and featured entertainer George Thomas.
